Hello there. Ok, this is actually an about me page. I am a lifelong Chicagoan, Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Technology Enthusiast and Entreprenuer.
Thanks for taking the time to explore my ScaryVO.com website. Let me start by Thanking my supportive and amazing and often under appreciated and long suffering wife Melissa, who puts up with my going on and on about my new career, the cool things, the wins, the challenges, etc... Thank you babe if you are reading this.
The website is ALWAYS a work in progress and Feedback is ALWAYS welcome. If you have ever met me, you know that I bring passion to everything that I try to do, and that I have spent most of my career trying to find ways to make technology work better for people by using a combination of Storytelling, Connection and Consistent Process (Yes, I actually create documentation that people refer back to and use, despite trying to adhere to Agile methodologies - IYKYK).
I have been blessed in my life to have so many wonderful supporters, family and friends and even customers and coworkers, and if you are one of those.
Thank You!
I am not sure that I can ever say those words enough for all the blessings that I have in my life.

If you don't know this about me, I am a "Stats" nerd. I love using data to make decisions. It's funny because there is a LOT of talk about how game changing AI will be for everyone and about how it is going to be bigger than the Internet impact, but the reality is, from my perspective, I have been working toward this for the better part of my career. Much of the technical work that I have done has involved data "Curation" - That is a process where you take raw data and use a computer language (although some argue it's not actually a language) like SQL in order to "Arrange" and "Aggregate" the data into a format where it can ACCURATELY be studied in order to make decisions. We have called it things like "Business Intelligence" and "Predictive Analytics" and now, the latest name for this is "Artificial Intelligence". Don't get me wrong, there is a LOT of new capability, but understand that at the end of the day, the "Suggestions" that you are getting from a computer are all based on the information that was fed into it, aggregated, arranged, formatted and ultimately given back to you as a "Decision" - It's not actually a "Decision" - It's a probabilistic Outcome. It's always based on what the computer program has been told and the potentially millions of data points that it was given than helped it come to that decision. It's not too different from how we learn to make decisions. But here's the rub - The computer can't really refer to something that is truly "new". If it was never told about something and has never seen anything like it, I think it would be interesting to see how AI reacts. It's not creative, it doesn't feel anything, and it truly can't invent anything new - It can only combine the things that it knows. Wow! That was a lot of stuff that was swimming around in my head for a long time, and if you took the time to read it, I hope it helps shape your understanding of AI.
Anyhow, thanks for indulging my next career and I hope you enjoy hearing my voice in whatever format it comes to you.
God bless you and your family and friends, and I have liked quoting Jason Mraz's song lately - "May the Best of your Todays be the Worst of your Tomorrows!"
